Detailed 1 Day Golden monkey trekking Itinerary in Volcanoes National Park.

Transfer to Volcanoes National Park. Pick up by our experienced driver guide at your lodge in Kigali at 4:30 am, then you shall be transferred to Volcanoes National Park via Kigali-Rehengeri road which is 3-4 hours journey along the road, expect to see varied terrain with winding roads.

Briefing at Kinigi park headquarters. Once you arrive at Kinigi park headquarters, you shall be briefed by a park ranger about the dos and don’ts when doing golden monkey trekking at 7:30. You will be divided into groups of 16 individuals to trek a golden monkey troop that you will choose.

Golden monkey trekking. At 8:00 am, the golden monkey trekking activity shall commence and it shall be led by a park ranger. The golden monkey trails are shorter taking 2-4 hours to trek as compared to mountain gorilla trails.

Spending 1 hour with the golden monkey troop.  You can identify them through their chattering as they communicate to one another by their ranges of vocals and calls. You shall spend 1 hour when you come across the golden monkey troop which are primates that you are trekking. You will observe them feeding as they jump from one branch to another or from one tree to another, socializing you can take photographs but avoid cameras with flash lights. On the golden monkey trek you might meet some animals like the duikers, bush pigs, and bird species

Head back to Kinigi park headquarters. After golden monkey  trekking, head back to the Kinigi park headquarters and meet your driver guide who will pick you up  take you to Iby’icawu cultural village for a cultural experience, you will watch the dancers perform for you and you will buy some souvenirs that you can take back home. You shall have lunch in Ruhengeri

Transfer to Kigali International Airport. The driver guide shall transfer you back to Kigali International Airport to catch your flight that is 3-4 hours journey.
