Day 2: Gorilla Trekking at Volcanoes National Park and Transfer to Gisenyi
After an early breakfast, transfer to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a briefing that starts by 7:30am by experienced park rangers before beginning your unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure. The park, famous for its breathtaking volcanic scenery and rich biodiversity, is home to the endangered mountain gorillas. Accompanied by guides and trackers by around 8:00 am, embark on a thrilling trek through dense rainforest, bamboo forests, and mist-covered slopes in search of one of the habituated gorilla families.
The duration of the trek varies depending on the movement of the gorillas, but the experience is incredibly rewarding. Once the gorillas are located, spend one magical hour observing them in their natural habitat as they feed, play, groom, and interact with one another. This close encounter offers an extraordinary wildlife experience and a deeper understanding of gorilla conservation efforts in Rwanda.
After trekking, and meet your driver guide who will take you for lunch and relaxation before departing for Gisenyi, a beautiful lakeside town situated on the shores of Lake Kivu. Upon arrival at the park, enjoy the thrilling canopy walk experience suspended high above the forest floor.
