Elevation Gain
Elevation Gain of Mount Bisoke : Hiking Mount Bisoke takes about 4-6 hours depending on the pace of the climbers in the group as well the guide on the team. Starting elevation at 2,700 meters, summit elevation is at 3,700 meters while the elevation gain is at 1,000 meters. The round-trip distance is around 8 – 9 miles or approximately 13-15 kilometers. The time required for hiking Mount Bisoke is about 4-6 hours depending on the pace and physical condition of the hikers as well as the guide.

Mount Bisoke is moderately challenging due to the steep terrain, muddy trails, fog and potential rain as well as the high altitude. This all makes the hike strenuous. The trail can sometimes be steep and narrow in some sections, muddy and slippery during rain. One is required to have hiking boots, rain coats, warm clothing and light luggage.
Experienced guides and rangers who are knowledgeable about Mount Bisoke’s terrain, geology and wildlife are there to guide and assist hikers.
