  • Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National park.

Detailed itinerary  of  5 Days  Exclusive Golden Monkey Trekking  and  Double Gorilla Trekking  

Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National park.

Our experienced driver guide shall pick you up from Kigali International Airport and you shall be transferred to Volcanoes national park which is approximately 3-4 hours journey along the way you shall have scenic views of rolling hills making the country earn the name a home of a thousand hills, you will also come across tea plantations and different tree plantation making you to immerse more with nature. You shall check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Exclusive Golden monkey trekking and visit to Iby’icawu cultural village.

Wake up for an early morning breakfast and transfer to Kinigi park headquarters by 7:30 am for briefing about the dos and don’ts when doing golden monkey trekking. On this day with will have a personalized experience and intimate immersion with nature as you would have paid exclusively and only you will visit a golden monkey troop. Head to the golden monkey trekking trails by 8:00am that are shorter than gorilla trekking trials. Once you come across a troop you will spend 1 hour with them as watch their playful moments while they leap from one tree to another as they feed, interact with each other with their vocalization and taking care of young ones. You will capture the moments with photographs. On the trail you will meet other animal species like duikers and various bird species. Return to the lodge for rest, lunch and then visit the Iby’icawu cultural village. You will be able watch them perform their cultura dances, local wine making process, metal smelting, how store crops using granaries, how to make ghee you will also find souvenirs that you can take home. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: First gorilla trekking.

On this particular day you will wake up for an early morning breakfast head to Volcanoes national park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing by 7:30 am about what to do and what not to do when doing gorilla trekking. By 8:00 am you will start the trek by going to a specific trail to hike the chosen mountain gorilla family. When you come across them, you will spend 1 hour with these magnificent creatures that share 98% DNA with human beings and observe them as they socialize like taking care of the young ones, feed, rest and also you will observe the silver backs that are the head of the family protecting their families from danger. On the trails you will come across various bird species, duikers and you will be able to have scenic views of the volcanoes like mount Sabinyo, Gahinga, Muhabura, Bisoke and Karismbi. Return to the lodge for lunch, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Second gorilla trekking and visit to Ellen Degeneres campus of Dian Fossey fund.

You will wake up for early morning breakfast and transfer to Kinigi park headquarters of Volcanoes national park by 7:30am so that you can be briefed about how to behave when you meet a mountain gorillas family. On this day you will be given a different mountain gorilla family with distinct behavior and location. By 8:00 am you will start the gorilla trekking activity and trek the trails. When you come across them, you will spend 1 hour with these other magnificent creatures that share 98% DNA with human beings and observe them as they socialize like taking care of the young ones, feed, rest and also you will observe the silver backs that are the head of the family protecting their families from danger. On the trails you will come across various bird species, duikers and you will be able to have scenic views of the volcanoes like mount Sabinyo, Gahinga, Muhabura, Bisoke and Karismbi.

You shall return to the lodge for lunch and rest. After you will visit Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey to observe the conservation efforts as this place acts as a hub for mountain gorilla conservation in Volcanoes national park. You will be able to watch the mountain gorilla using virtual reality and also in 360 degrees theatre. There is a lot of material talking about Dian Fossey and her conservation efforts. You can donate to support the fund and conservation efforts.

Day 5: Visit to Kimironko market and transfer to Kigali International airport.

Breakfast will be served once you wake up. Then you will be transferred to Kigali for a city tour which is 3-4 hours journey. You will have a visit to the Kimironko market and be able to buy souvenirs that you will take back home. Have lunch and then transfer to Kigali International airport to catch your flights.
