This safari is thoughtfully designed to combine adventure, conservation learning, and scenic travel across Rwanda’s rolling hills. Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park & Visit to Ellen DeGeneres campus of Dian Fossey Campus.
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly received by our professional driver-guide who will brief you on your safari and what to expect in the coming days. You will then begin your journey to Volcanoes National Park, a scenic drive of approximately 2 to 3 hours through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside. Along the way, you will pass rolling hills, terraced farms, and vibrant local communities, offering a glimpse into everyday life in Rwanda.
Upon arrival in Volcanoes National Park, you will check into your lodge and enjoy lunch in a peaceful environment surrounded by nature. In the afternoon, you will visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Fund, a modern conservation center that celebrates the legacy of Dian Fossey. Here, you will explore interactive exhibits, watch educational films, and learn about the protection of mountain gorillas.
The visit will give you a deeper understanding of gorilla behavior, their habitat, and ongoing conservation efforts. After this enriching experience, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Nyungwe National Park.
You will start your day early with breakfast before heading to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing by 7:30am on gorilla trekking guidelines. The experienced rangers will explain safety measures, trekking procedures, and how to behave around the gorillas to ensure a respectful and safe encounter.
After the briefing, you will begin your trek into the forest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek may take several hours depending on the location of the gorillas, but the journey through dense vegetation and scenic terrain is part of the adventure. Once you locate the gorillas, you will spend one hour observing them in their natural habitat as they feed, groom, and interact within their group.
After the trek, you will return and meet your driver guide who shall take you for lunch before beginning your transfer to Nyungwe National Park. This drive is longer and offers stunning views of Rwanda’s landscapes, including tea plantations and rolling hills. You will arrive in the evening, check into your lodge, and enjoy dinner before resting for the night.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Walk.
After an early breakfast, you will head for briefing by 5:30 am before starting the trek into the forest of Nyungwe National Park for chimpanzee trekking. Accompanied by experienced guides, you will trek these lively primates as they move through the forest. Chimpanzees are highly active and vocal, making the experience both exciting and dynamic as you follow their calls and movements.
Once you find them, you will observe their behavior as they swing through trees, communicate with each other, and forage for food. Their intelligence and social interactions make this encounter fascinating and different from gorilla trekking.
After returning to the lodge for lunch or refreshments, you will proceed for the famous canopy walk. This suspended walkway is set high above the forest floor and offers incredible views of the rainforest canopy. As you walk across the bridge, you may spot birds, monkeys, and other wildlife from a unique perspective.
Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer Back to Kigali International Airport.
On your final day, you will enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the lodge while taking in the peaceful rainforest surroundings. After breakfast, you will check out and begin your journey back to Kigali International Airport. The drive offers another opportunity to admire Rwanda’s stunning landscapes, including rolling hills, rural villages, and scenic viewpoints.
Along the way, you may make optional stops for photography, local markets, or a lunch break depending on your schedule. Your driver-guide will ensure a comfortable and enjoyable journey while sharing additional insights about the country’s culture and daily life.
You are expected to arrive in Kigali in time for your departure flight. If time allows, you may briefly explore parts of the city or enjoy a meal before heading to the airport. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at the airport, marking the end of your incredible primate safari experience in Rwanda.
